AuthorAID Nigeria National Hub

The AuthorAID National Research Hub, Nigeria (AA NRH, NG) is a Hub created to offer support and a platform for exchange of ideas for researchers across various disciplines and will help to further strengthen ties with AuthorAID  in Nigeria. The AuthorAID National Research hub, Nigeria, will serve as platform for knowledge transfer and identification of focal areas to create impactful collaborative research and strengthen research capacity.

The research hub will enhance possibilities for collaborations between the different institutions and fields, it will build expertise, enhancing research capacity and extending the scope of current research in the institutions. The research hub is open to all Nigerian researchers in and outside the country.

It was officially launched on December 5, 2022 at Yaba College of Technology (YabaTech), Lagos, Nigeria.  This is supported by the International Network for Advancing Science and Policy (INASP) and AuthorAID.

Collaborating institutions in Nigeria are Yaba College of Technology, Lagos; University of Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt; University of Nigeria, Nsukka; University of Lagos, Akoka; University of Calabar, Calabar; Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe; and the  Institute of Mangrove Ecology and Environmental Technology, Delta State.

Vision: To be the hub that empowers researchers, embracing and contributing to a sustainable research ecosystem, to increase the national research value chain in Nigeria.

Mission: To foster a supportive culture, build capacity through training, harness available resources aiding Nigerian researchers to engage in impactful collaborations, communicate research effectively and demonstrate the impact of their work in the society.

Core Values: Networking for increased research impact, supportive culture, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

6. Mentoring scheme where inexperienced hub members are paired up with experienced members of the hub.

7. Special early-career researcher (ECR) sessions not limited to post graduate.

MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA FOR JOINING THE AUTHORAID NATIONAL RESEARCH HUB

Members must;

1. Be Nigerian postgraduate students or postdoctoral scholars within or outside Nigeria

2. Be early career researchers in Nigeria or outside Nigeria (We define ECRs as researchers with not more than 8 years post PhD award or equivalent professional training).

3. Be established academics who want to give back to the research community.

4. Have a proven track record of active engagement in a tertiary education or an advanced education organization.

5. Participate or support whenever necessary in all activities or events organized by the AuthorAID National Research Hub, Nigeria.

6. Promote the AuthorAID National Research Hub, Nigeria, for effective research collaboration, paper publication and events organization.

7. Share technical knowledge, research, evidence and information that will promote the mission of the AuthorAID National Research Hub, Nigeria

8. Act as links to the hub for engagement with more members in and around Nigeria
